5 of a Kind Mid-Atlantic Title Match

By: Justin Ayers

5 of a KIND equates to an energetic, an exciting Mid Atlantic Tile Match.

Partners, friends? Or will their tensions and quest for a title change all that?

On September 27 there will be 5 young superstars squaring off in a match where all the participants are allowed in the ring at the same time. The first man gaining the pin fall will be crowned the Mid Atlantic Champion.

Chase Del Monte won th e title in the last show in a somewhat controversial fashion where he was inserted in the match due to an injury sustained by J.J. Cruz who was supposed to be in that slot. Jason Leigh was also in that mix and now young Leigh and Cruz have a chance to enter their names to once again get a shot at the Mid Atlantic Title.

J.J. Cruz had a brief taste of what it is to be the Mid Atlantic Champion and while he is good friends with Jason Leigh and while they have trained together, they never let that stand in their way of competing against each other. They are quite competitive in their training sessions, bordering on the brink of being two competitive against each other, so you throw in the equation of a title into the picture, could that throw their sportsmanship and good competitive spirit out the window?

Speaking of good friends who have had tremendous success as a team, but yet a sorted back round as opponents, enter in The Valedictorians, Rob Eckos and Billy Bax. These two Hall of Famers are the tag team that gained legendary status by holding the tag team championship longer than anyone in ECWA history. Their friendship has been put to the test when they became opponents i n the last Super 8. It has further been strained by Billy Bax’s distain for Rob Eckos’s younger brother Dan Eckos. Bax claims that Dan has been nothing but a distraction to his older brother and he thinks that has caused Rob to become unfocused as he is constantly looking out for Dan, rather than concentrating on the Valedictorians success, as was noted recently in The Leather N Lace/Heavyweight feud where The Valedictorians had to become involved to save Dan. To say there is quite a bit of tension between the Valedictorians is an understatement...and throw in the fact they want to be Mid Atlantic Champion, you just may see another Valedictorian v Valedictorian.

Perhaps the man in the best seat to all this is the defending Mid Atlantic Champion, popular Chase Del Monte. While Chase seems happy go lucky in the ring, never let it be said that he is anyone’s fool. He knows the other 4 men have tensions between them and he could very well play off of that. He also knows that they are friends and that could play against him. No matter what happens, you can be assured that Chase Del Monte will be wrestling and monitoring the situation very closely as he attempts to hold on to his coveted ECWA Mid Atlantic Title in the 5 of a Kind Match on September 27.

Leather N Lace defeated The Heavyweights

Leather N Lace defeated The Heavyweights at the ECWA Pro Wrestling show on May 10, 2008 in a submisstion match.

Already aggravated from their confrontation with the Valedictorians, Leather N Lace took every opportunity to punish the young Heavyweights in this submission contest. They particularly set their sites on Heavyweight Dan Eckos, the younger brother of Valedictorians' Rob Eckos. They were merciless in their pursuit of young Dan, finally causing him to submit. Although the Heavyweights put up a gallant fight, the much larger and more experienced Leather N Lace team drove home a point, by hurting the younger Eckos brother.

After the match, the sadistic Leather N Lace tag team continued to punish the young Heavyweights and came within inches of destroying Heavyweight Dan Eckos. Watching from backstage were Rob Eckos (Dan’s older brother) and his partner Billy Bax. They came out to the rescue of The Heavyweights and another heated argument ensued between Leather N Lace and The Valedictorians. A challenge was made by both teams to face each other at our next event on July 26 ... they both readily accepted and the fans greeted the challenge with great enthusiasm! Officials were able to regain order and get both teams back to the locker room area.

Aden Chambers/Travis Blake defeated The Valedictorians (Billy Bax/Rob Eckos)

May 10, 2008 results...

Match #1
Aden Chambers/Travis Blake defeated The Valedictorians (Billy Bax/Rob Eckos)

The legendary Valedictorians returned after spring break confident and assured that they would rack up another victory against the less experienced team of Travis Blake and Aden Chambers. It was a fast and furious match to open the show and crowd erupted when the team of Chambers and Blake pulled out a win over the legendary duo.

As The Valedictorians were leaving the ring area heading back to the dressing room, the bumped into the team of Leather N Lace who were now entering for their match, which was next. Leather N Lace, who have had great success as a team lately, began to berate the Valedictorians, calling them old and washed up as a team! Bax & Eckos took exception to their remarks and after a heated discussion, they eventually retreated to the locker room.

An Open Letter to The Valedictorians

Rob and Billy. Eckos and Bax. Let me first applaud you on your win on May 10th, it was ... Um wait a minute. That's right you DIDN'T win in May. You ended your match staring up at the lights. Then, if your night hadn't gone bad enough, you took your time leaving the ring and ran head on into the freight train, that is my boys, Leather N Lace. A confrontation that could have been avoided if you hadn't been in OUR Aisle while we made our way to the ring.

But you decided to step up to the plate, and by doing so, we took it out on Lil Danny Eckos. His screams of agony were like a symphony to my ears. Every second of his pain, made me laugh harder and harder. And then, once again, you stuck your noses into our business. You decided you wanted a piece of Leather N Lace and you wanted it THAT NIGHT.

Well, when you don't have the titles, you don't have any pull. So, you didn't get what you wanted, but come July 26th, you will get much more than you can handle in that ring, because Leather N Lace is coming with cruel intentions.

I will give you your just due, you are the greatest tag team to ever step into an ECWA ring. Your two plus year reign with the tag titles is unrivaled by any team ever. You have taken on all comers, were fighting champions and even now, an air of greatness surrounds you. Beating you in the ring will not be an easy task and not one we will take lightly, I promise you that. Since May 10th, I have been doing my due diligence. I've been watching tape of you, as singles competitors and as a team. I have seen you in your infancy as a team and at the height of your legendary status.

And I have found flaws in your game. I have found mistakes you make and I've seen your tells and I will share these findings with JJ and Hot Shot.

You may both be ECWA Hall of Famers for your performances in the ring all these years, but don't forget, so am I. I didn't get there without earning it. Valedictorians, you were and maybe still are a great team. But you have lost your focus and no longer carry a killer instinct in your hearts. But we do. You will be just another stepping stone for Leather N Lace on July 26th, as we continue our journey towards our destiny, a meeting with The Logan Brothers and the ECWA Tag Team Titles.

In all sincerity,
Sebastian Night
